Divination

“O rhythm come, let nature flow,
of sacred balance ~ to and fro
I seek to know the truth, betold,
by sensing all to which unfolds,
before me ~ watching, hearing too,
the telltale signs that give us clues. “

The Metaphysics of Divination

Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether visible or invisible. It seeks a description so basic, so essentially simple, so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything must be like in order to be at all.

As far back as the 14th century, divination was considered the art or practice that would seek to foresee or foretell future events. Discoveries of hidden knowledge, usually by the interpretation of omens or by the assistance of supernatural powers was how it was perceived. Today, the idea is not so different.

Divination is considered unusual insight or intuitive perception. As intuitive beings, we often tend to let go of or loose sight of this ability as we age.Children are extremely intuitive and utilize this ability daily. As we grow older, it seems that we tend not to trust these feelings, images or concepts from our mind’s eye. They almost seem odd, irrational or just something that is hard to believe. The Art of Scrying, or another words, tapping into the super sensory powers of your subconscious, are just other ways of “paying attention”!  Consider our featured products.

Divination Games

Divination itself can take various forms, including:

1. The direct observation of events, which have not yet occurred, such as scrying.
2. The interpretation of patterns formed by objects or on surfaces. This included the reading of tea-leaves cards and palmistry.
3. The selection of objects with meanings assigned to them by some form of random processes such as from a bag or deck of cards. This would include the runes and I-Ching. While divination is often a structured and methodical process it is never a purely rational one for it depends on the awakening of (latent) psychic abilities.

In adopting a divinatory tool, such as the runes, pendulums, crystals, color or which ever tool you choose, you are taking on both a support and a burden. They bring with them certain responsibilities. It is one thing to divinate for yourself, but the big responsibility comes when you are working for others. Learn your craft and learn it well.

Scrying is the psychological technique of unearthing or recovering information by extra-sensory, intuitive or psychic means. It is about clearing your view of the unconscious mind and translating its images, sounds and sensations into our conscious knowledge. There are many forms of scrying, from Ouija boards, dowsing rods, pendulums and aura readings to reading tea leaves, tarot cards, dream interpretations, biorhythms and handwriting analysis. I intend to introduce below some of the techniques that I have found most helpful as well as insightful.

Numerology Divination

Numerology is any study of the divine, mystical or other special relationships between a number and some coinciding observation or perceived events. It has many systems, traditions and beliefs. Numerology and numerological divination by systems such as Isopsephy were popular among early mathematicians, such as Pythagoras. Pythagoras made influential contributions to philosophy and religious teaching in the late 6th century BC. He is often revered as a great mathematician, mystic and scientist, but he is best known for the Pythagorean theorem, which bears his name. He believed that because mathematical concepts were more “practical’ (easier to regulate and classify) than physical ones, they had greater actuality.

Western Astrology

Astrology is a fascinating art (and science) with engaging, authentic and real connections to our psychological spirit. Astrology has been dated to the 2nd millennium BCE, with roots in the calendar systems used to predict seasonal shifts and interpret celestial cycles as signs of divine communications. Western astrology (sun signs) often consists of a system of horoscopes to explain aspects of a person’s personality and predict future events in their life based on the positions of the sun, moon, and other celestial objects at the time of birth.

Chinese Astrology

Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the Lunar new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The lunar calendar has a sixty year cycle. One’s Chinese horoscope is based on which lunar year in this sixty year cycle one was born.

Vedic Astrology

This ancient art is the traditional Hindu system of astrology, also known as Indian astrology or Vedic astrology. Vedanga Jyotisha is one of the earliest texts about astronomy within the Vedas.  Astrology remains an important facet of Hindu folk belief in contemporary India. Crystals for Divination

The power behind Earth’s minerals can be felt the minute you put a crystal in your hands or near your physical body. Crystals are the treasures of the earth. These stones are filled with energy to be used.

Any crystal can be used for divination. With that said, there are some stones and minerals that are used specifically for their metaphysical properties, shape or color, which seem to enhance intuition, assist with better foresight and bring higher awareness.

Crystals with a reputation for divination are amethyst, moonstone, obsidian, onyx, opal, quartz, sardonyx, smoky quartz. There are also particular shapes or forms stones can be used as including crystal balls, seeing stones, magic eye stones, shaman stones, pendulums, scrying mirrors and geodes.

Amethyst

Most effective on the Brow and Crown Chakra. Amethyst contains the grounding color of red with the energy of blue, which is expanding, spacious and flow of peace. Amethyst is the color that you see in the sky as twilight transitions into night. Amethyst takes you on this transition from the magic time of dusk to a conscious shift into a different place. Crossing this threshold is the lesson of humility, which Amethyst can teach us.

Moonstone

This stone that shines like the moon is the go to crystal for divination and what is believed to have the ability to unravel Universal Mysteries.  Use this stone to get in tune with your feminine side, connect to a more visceral feeling or as a tool for meditation during a full or waxing moon.  It has the ability to show us a stronger sense of awareness while helping us to tap into our intuition.

Obsidian

This glassy black lava stone is one of the oldest scrying stones on the planet. Opal

The world is full of color and happiness, if you choose to open your eyes and find it. Rainbow opals are a symbol of inner peace and harmony of body, mind and spirit. They are associated with mystic vision, imagination and rainbow healing. Opal is a stone of inspiration which enhances the imagination and creativity as well. It helps one release inhibitions and enhances the memory.

Quartz

The most abundant, versatile and all purposeful stone, it is found on 2/3 of the planet.  It vibrates to us, meaning it is believed to align with the quartz within the human body, creating the “entrainment” or “synchronicity affect that is unparalleled. Use this stone when connecting to the self for healing, communication or awareness and opening up all aspects of our Chakra energy.

Sardonyx

Sard and onyx are often formed to create sardonyx. This very special stone is formed in rings or layers that are often used to balance both yin energy and yang energy. They have an affinity for protection and preciseness. They often combine to colors to help the one divining to find equilibrium of the senses.  This stone often can be seen in the form of an eye when polished or tumbled properly.
