L

Label

Dreams of labels can relate to how we choose to look at someone. Physically reading a label indicates your desire for knowledge and at the same time your lack of understanding. What does the label tell you to do? Are you reading a label and it is upside down? Then your comprehension of a certain life situation is very confusing and unclear. What are the circumstances behind your confusion? What is the color of the label?

Labor

Dreams of doing labor can often suggest dreams about struggling. Since the word itself refers to a task (often laborious), it is usually referring to how difficult it is to do something. What is the labor being done? Is it something you are use to (do daily) or is it something completely new and unfamiliar? Look at the situation you are in. Is it a struggle or is it an easy task? Something you enjoy doing or is it something you find difficult or a chore?

Labyrinth

Being lost in a labyrinth is designed with a defined goal at its heart. This journey is designed to steer you toward the center. When we are lost in our dreams, the reason is to find out why. Look at the other content in your dream. Wrong turns, dead ends are all created to bring you to the center, to look inward. What is at the heart or center of your issue? Is there someone guiding you? If you dream of a labyrinth it denotes you may have one or several difficult situations you need to get through. A labyrinth is different than a maze as the goal of a maze us finding the way out. The labyrinth denotes a journey to travel to the center. The goal you seek is at your core or core of the problem. Defining what that is and a plan to get there should be the steps taken in your waking life.

Ladder

A ladder can take you to great heights or take you down to familiar ground. Which direction are you climbing the ladder? Are you reaching great heights or finding yourself on the way down? Dreams associated with falling from a ladder can indicate a setback in your journey upward. Is someone holding the ladder for you? You have support by the one holding the ladder as you continue to progress in life. A broken ladder can indicate an obstacle. Are you persevering or are you giving up? The most famous “dream ladder” of all would most like be Jacob’s Ladder. It refers to the ladder to heaven in the bible that Jacob dreams about during his flight from his brother Esau. This ladder (of the created Universe) stretches from Heaven to earth, with Angels going up and down it. It is also considered the straight path, tracing from its end back to its beginning.

Ladybug

Considerd a symbol of luck, it is especially true when a Ladybug lands on you as it is said bring your wish to fruition. Farmers have always considered the ladybug a good omen as she controls the aphid population. In Europe, during the Middle Ages, swarms of insects were destroying the crops. The farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary for help. Soon after the ladybugs came, devouring the plant-destroying pests and saving the crops! The farmers called these beautiful insects The Beetles of Our Lady. They eventually became popularly known as Lady Beetles. The red wings were said to represent the Virgin’s cloak and the black spots were symbolic of both her joys and her sorrows. In Ireland, the Ladybug is a symbol of protection. In Asian cultures it is believed that if caught and then released, the ladybug will fly faithfully to your true love. Considered a love totem ladybugs have been the subject of many wive’s tales for centuries.

Lagoon

Like any body of water, this relates to an emotional situation. A calm, quiet lagoon is often a mirror to your current life situations. A lagoon that is rough, turbulent or disturbed can suggest an emotional issue that is unresolved. What is that situation? A lagoon is a shallow body of water separated from a larger body of water by barrier islands or reefs. Is there something separating you from something (or someone else?) This may be a good situation or not. Peace and serenity around this dream often equals your waking life and visa versa. See also Lake (below) and water

Lake

Dreaming of a specific bodies of water such as a lake must be analyzed according to its setting and the entire contents of the dream, much like dreaming of water in general, Is there a dam at the lake? Stopping your flow or progress on your journey. The clarity of the lake has to do with how you see a situation. the dark or murky water may indicate how unclear you are about a decision or job you need to do. Is it deep water? Are you “over your head” or in deep water in your waking life? Is it shallow water? Are you able to move through or are you “knee deep” in problems. Are you sinking or swimming? How does that relate to your waking life? Drowning or surviving? Keep in mind that a lake is an enclosed body of water and that can mean that your problem is encapsulated or land locked. The problem is not an “ocean” and is more manageable (than you think). 1. Freud believed that the size of the body of water is representative of the size of your sexual desire. 2. How wet you get in crossing the water is indicative of the relative importance of your sex life. 3. If you like a lake in your dreams you are often considered a loyal person to those around you.

Lamb

Lambs are less than one year of age. They have usually not produced offspring. Lamb and mutton are also the term for the flesh of a young domestic sheep eaten as food. The meat from a sheep that is older than 12 months is called mutton. See sheep.

Lead

Considered one of the seven magic metals, lead is not found in its native state and must be smelted from ore. Lead is a soft and malleable metal, which is regarded as a heavy yet poor metal. Lead, at certain contact degrees, is a poisonous substance to animals, including humans. It damages the nervous system and causes brain disorders. Excessive lead also causes blood disorders in mammals. Like the element mercury, another heavy metal, lead is a neurotoxin that accumulates both in soft tissues and the bones. Lead poisoning has been documented from ancient Rome, ancient Greece, and ancient China. Lead is a bright and silvery metal with a very slight shade of blue in a dry atmosphere. Upon contact with air, it begins to tarnish by forming a complex mixture of compounds depending on the conditions. Lead is a chemical element in the carbon group with symbol Pb (from Latin: plumbum) and atomic number 82. Ruled by the planet Saturn, its astrological houses are Capricorn and Aquarius and corresponds to the turquoise. Lead is associated with deep unconscious levels, deep meditation, breaking bad habits and addictions.

To dream of legal matters must be correlated with the entire dream as this is more a state, or condition of, a situation, rather then a dream symbol or action. Legal matters, and all things to do with the law, should be viewed in a warning context unless the rest of the dream tells you different.

Leprechaun

Considered a symbol of luck, leprechauns are of the supernatural and fairy world and who’s stories were passed down within the history of Irish storytelling for centuries. Irish folklore described leprechauns as old, solitary, mischievous creatures who were shoemakers by trade and who hide their earnings in pots at the end of rainbows, or scattered them around in mountains, forests, or rocks. It was believed that spotting a leprechaun was considered good luck. See also Celtic Fairies.

Leviathan Cross: (see also, Cross)

Any symbol in a dream, must be looked at within the context of that dream. As symbols have many different meanings, it is best to discern how to interpret your dream by trying to understanding the connection between the symbol and it’s dream meaning. In alchemy, it is the symbol for sulfur. The cross symbolizes double protection and infinity. This cross was adopted by Anton La Vey as a symbol for his Church of Satan, yet there is no historical record of this cross having any other satanic connections. This cross was used by both the Knights Templar and the Cathars. This cross also has carries a phallic connotation.

Lightning

This weather phenomenon is often associated with a “flash of genius” or a great idea! With lightning speed, you are made aware of the difference or change in attitude from a negative outlook to having a more positive outlook. This bright idea can lend itself to a psychic or intuitive flash or a dream about insight into something that was hidden. What is the hidden message revealed? Did the lightning strike something or was it in the sky? Consider the object struck or the distance away when interpreting your dream. Lighting signifies power, strength, the “finger of God” inspiration or empowerment.

Light

A light shining in the dark, or a flash of light often signifies an awakening or a bright idea. When a light reveals something, it is best to pay attention as to what it shows you. Did the light go out in your dream? Maybe it is time to focus on your inner vision and light and start trusting your own instincts. Light offers us the way, a path or a new journey. Light is the opposing force to dark and signifies good (vs evil), yang (verses yin) and defeat over oppression.

Lion

The king of the jungle dreams of a lion represent power, majesty, regal manner and respect. Are you the lion or are you being hunted by one? Signifying pride, the ability to stand up to others, courage and leadership. Being pursued by a lion shows your lack of control, lack of security or in a threatening situation. If you have a dream of riding a lion or walking with one, it refers to your need for leadership, protection or guidance. Leo, one of the 12 signs of the zodiac the lion reigns in the sky as well as on earth! Lions in action have different interpretations. Sleeping lions can represent a sense of peace, trust and over all well being. Lions which are fighting are often those who are engaged in some sort of dispute in reality. The playful lion is one who is at ease with its mate and surroundings. A roaring lion is one who is marking territory, making a threat or feeling threatened. Who is doing the roaring?

Lost

Being lost in transit is often a dream that is a reflection of our waking life. When someone says “I’ve lost my way” or “I got off track”, people associate the dream with how they feel they are lost in their waking life or are looking for their path. Lost dreams usually occur when you feel great confusion or conflict about how to act in certain situations. In your dream did you fell that you lost your way and don’t know what to do or where to turn. Where were you trying to go in the dream? Where did you become lost? What is it about the area in which you became lost that was most disturbing? What circumstances seemed to lead you astray? What action did you take to find your way in the dream? What area of life is currently bothering to you? See also stuck, trapped.

Being lost in a maze will usually take you round in circles before letting you out where you first began. It is not designed to take you inward but may deliberately keep you from the center. Where a labyrinth is designed with a defined goal at its heart. This journey is designed to steer you toward the center. When we are lost in our dreams, the reason is to find out why. Look at the other content in your dream. Are you confused, disorientated, lonely, misunderstood? What is at the root of being lost in your waking life? Often our dreams are also offering the solution. Are we rushing to conclusions? Are we unsure of a big decision in life? Listening to our intuition is often the message.

Love

Love, the most empowering, fulfilling, difficult, challenging sorrowful and joyful emotion in the Universe… is an interesting journey in waking life, but our loves in dream life are even more bizarre. Freud’s choices in love were believed to be due to our own past experience that prescribes what kind of attraction we will be most susceptible to. Specifically, the love-preference is formed in very early life in the relationship between the child and its parents.

Dreams of love play to the powers of admiration, respect, intrigue, significance and expansiveness. Famous psychologist and dream interpreter, Carl Jung sees love as a push/pull, give/take relationship. He talks about Where love rules, there is no will to power. If there is more of a power struggle and power predominates, there is a lack of love. He feels that one is the shadow of the other. He believe that our inner necessity acted out in our dreams helps create something new in love. “The creative mind plays with the objects it loves”. Take our love test.
