Folk Remedies: Copper is the third most abundant trace mineral found in the human body. Copper is transported through our body by protein in our bloodstream. The human brain and liver contain the largest amounts of copper, with lesser amounts of copper in other organs. We need approximately 3 mg copper per day in our diet. Copper is an essential component of the natural pigment, melanin that gives color to our skin, hair, and eyes. Copper keeps our hair from turning grey and helps keep our hair thick. Required in our body to make enzymes that stop our arteries from hardening, copper is required to support the enzyme lysyl oxidase. Lysyl Oxidase is used in the synthesis and maintenance of bone and connective tissue. Copper is alos essential to the activation of lysyl oxidase and supports both elastin and collagen productions.

Copper can be used anywhere on or around the body. It is very effective when used at the Solar Plexus Chakra for issue pertaining to the stomach and intestines. Next to skin, this mineral detoxes and soothes arthritis, rheumatism, other inflammation problems. Copper works for exhaustion recovery and improving circulation due to the fact that it influences the flow of blood. Whenever there is better blood flow, there is better circulation and less pain. This mineral is therefore, important for metabolism, as it stabilizes the metabolism and heightens the immune responds. Copper has also been found to be beneficial for a disorder called “streetlight phenomenon”, when passing under a streetlight the negative energy charge in the body can turn off or shut down the light. Those with this energy charge are called “sliders” and the energy can be referred to as the “slider phenomena”.

It is common among those with a strong aura. Often people think it is their aura that causes this but it is the negative energy you carry, that reflects this. Your auric light is an expression of your mental, physical and emotional expression. Since energy is so sensitive, it is expressed outwardly sometimes before any symptoms are observed. Crystal Cleansing: Negative energy “charge” is absorbed by this mineral. It tends to become dull when used for treating negative energy. 1) Make a solution out of warm water, a few drops of lemon or lime juice, and a teaspoon of salt. Mix it thoroughly. 2) Dip the tarnished copper jewelry into this solution. Leave it there for a couple of minutes. 3) Remove the jewelry and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if some tarnish still shows. 4) Use ketchup and a soft toothbrush to remove tarnish on a piece that contains soft or delicate gemstones. The ketchup is not safe on the stones, but using ketchup and a toothbrush will give you more control over the cleaning process. Only clean the copper and avoid touching the gemstones with the ketchup.

History: Copper is a chemical element with the symbol Cu. it is a plentiful metal ore that ranges in color from a soft red-brown to a deep brick red. Copper occupies the same family of the periodic table as silver and gold, since they each have one s-orbital electron on top of a filled electron shell which forms metallic bonds. The similarity in electron structure makes copper, silver, and gold similar in many ways: All three have high thermal and electrical conductivities, and all three are malleable. Among pure metals at room temperature, copper has the second highest electrical and thermal conductivity, after silver.

Azurite

Azurite, Cu3 [(OH)2(CO3)2] is a solid deep blue, blue-purple. A blue copper-based stone (approximately 55%) is found in association with Malachite forming together, which is its cousin. They are both formed by the oxidation of copper such as you would see in chalcopyrite. Azurite is referred to as the jewel of wisdom or Stone of Heaven. Azurite symbolizes insight and discovery. It is said to increase psychic abilities. Azurite activates the Third Eye Chakra and Throat Chakra for more assertive communication and alertness.

Malachite

Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, with the formula Cu2CO3(OH)2.This stone has a steady pulsing electromagnetic energy. (High copper content) Malachite promotes growth and builds strength, both emotionally and physically. It draws out deep anxieties, unwanted fears and psychosomatic issues teaching us to take responsibility for our own actions.Malachite when placed on the Third Eye Chakra, stimulates physical and psychic vision, concentration. Azur-Malachite

Azurite is sometimes found growing with malachite, forming the best of two minerals. Chryscolla (Cu,Al)2H2Si2O5(OH)4·nH2O, is a hydrated copper phyllosilicate mineral with a mixture of the copperhydroxide spertiniite and chalcedony. It forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. This stone is found in shades of blueand/or green.

Turquoise

Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium, with the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8·4H2O. The substance has been known by many names, but the word “turquoise” dates to the 17th century and is derived from the French turquois for “Turkish” because the mineral was first brought to Europe from Turkey, from mines in the historical Khorasan Province of Persia. Pliny the Elder referred to the mineral as “callais” and the Aztecs knew it as “chalchihuitlz”

This stone is most famous as an amazing over all healer for illnesses in the physical body and mental/emotional issues. Turquoise is known as a stone of protection and communication on every level. It is a stone most attune to the thymus gland. The thymus is located in the upper part of the chest between the heart and the throat, therefore, use turquoise at the Throat Chakra, to encouraging communication between heart and mind, as well as, expressing your desires and dreams.

Eilat Stone

This semi-precious gemstone’s healing abilities have been documented due to the elements which comprise Eilat stone and its ability to create, store and conduct energy. It has a mixture of Chrysocolla, Malachite, Turquoise, and sometimes is found with Silver and Native Copper.

These are some of the most healing minerals on the planet. Eilat Stone derives its name from the city of Eilat where it was once mined, it is a green-blue inhomogeneous mixture of several secondary copper minerals including malachite, azurite, turquoise, pseudomalachite, chrysocolla. The Eilat stone is the National stone of Israel, and is also known as the “King Solomon Stone”.

Copper Love Juice

1 Copper nugget (tumbled only)
1 hematite (tumbled only)
1 tourmaline (tumbled only)
1 tsp honey
Red berry juice (cranberry, boysenberry, watermelon, strawberry…)

Add stones to pitcher and then add juice and honey (and/or fruit and mint leaves). As you blend ingredients, say:
“Berry, crystals, honey blend”
To offer love that never ends”
Serve this juice before the fun begins, during the waxing to full moon cycle or when sharing a meal.

Cleansing & Charging Copper

~ Cleansing a crystal is always a good idea to rid it of energies (negative or otherwise) that it may have picked up during handling and excessive use.

~ Charging a crystal is bringing its energy levels back up, after use and cleansing. Like re-charging a battery after it has lost its energy.  A great way to do this (and remind you that it is time to do so) is during a full moon.

Crystal Cleansing: method 1 – 3 and method 5 – 8
Negative energy “charge” is absorbed by this mineral. It tends to become dull when used for treating negative energy. 1) Make a solution out of warm water, a few drops of lemon or lime juice, and a teaspoon of salt. Mix it thoroughly. 2) Dip the tarnished copper jewelry into this solution. Leave it there for a couple of minutes. 3) Remove the jewelry and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if some tarnish still shows. 4) Use ketchup and a soft toothbrush to remove tarnish on a piece that contains soft or delicate gemstones. The ketchup is not safe on the stones, but using ketchup and a toothbrush will give you more control over the cleaning process. Only clean the copper and avoid touching the gemstones with the ketchup.
