Medical Astrology

Medical astrology, traditionally known as Iatromathematics, is an ancient medical system of healing connecting the body and disease with the twelve astrological signs. Each astrological sign, along with the sun, moon, and planets are associated with different parts of the human body that correlate to disorders of its associated muscles, nerve systems and organs.

The system of medical astrology has been used to codify the associations of the signs of the zodiac with the parts of the body as follows:  Aries – head, face, brain, eyes

The planets are also associated with certain portions and functions within the body:  Mars – muscles, head, adrenal glands, senses of sight, smell and taste

In medical astrology, Aries is ruled by the head, face, brain, eyes and sense of smell. You are definitely head strong and often too much in your head. Therefore, this can often lead to tension headaches and even migraines. You often just move forward quickly and without thinking. Because of this, you have a tendency towards slips and falls, cuts and bruises or painful injuries. The majority of your health issues tend to be due to or aggravated by stress.

You are so dedicated and driven, that stress can catch up with you and before you know it, you are a complete mess. Take time out! As I know this is one of the most impossible tasks for you, it is essential for a healthy balance. This is also why you tend to suffer from adrenal fatigue.

Your adrenal glands are a part of kidney system. These endocrine glands sit on top of the kidneys and are mainly responsible for releasing hormones in conjunction with stress through the synthesis of corticosteroids such as cortisol and catecholamines, such as epinephrine. Adrenal glands affect kidney function through the secretion of aldosterone, a hormone involved in regulating blood osmosis.

The adrenals release three classes of hormones responsible for maintaining metabolic processes by managing blood sugar levels, regulating inflammation, regulating the balance of salt and water, controlling the “fight or flight” response to stress, maintaining pregnancy and initiating and controlling sexual maturation during childhood and puberty. The adrenal glands are also an important source of sex hormones such as estrogen and testosterone.

Taking care of your eyes is very important. Eye strain, conjunctivitis or sties can be something you are prone to, especially in the Spring.

Making moderate exercise apart of your lifestyle will benefit you better than just showing up to the gym once in a while. Eat foods that boost your metabolism and eating foods in season will serve you greatly.
