Much awareness has been brought to environmental issues this year in particular. What is important, is that the issues are being brought to the forefront where they can be addressed.

With all the excitement about going green, big corporations are finally jumping on the band wagon. Recent news media has made the masses more aware of global warming and that has been another milestone in the fight for a greener planet.

The excessive abuse of our environment plays an integral part in how we live our lives and ultimately a major factor in determining our own health and healing. Environmental issues such as worldwide pollution, the garbage disposal and landfills, and the toxic waste seeping into the ground and our water supply, have become staggering statistics.

Along with polluting our air and warming our climate, the exploration, extraction, and use of fossil fuels can cause incredible damage to water and land resources. Oil spills destroy plant and animal life, and leave waterways and their surrounding shores uninhabitable for long periods of time. In addition, strip mining for coal deposits devastates landscapes by reducing mountaintops and filling-in valleys and streams.

Polluting The Temple

We start with ourselves. Of course our “habits” must be regulated by recycling, re-using and controlling our own personal carbon footprint. Another area that is just as valuable is our own health!  The temple, our physical body, is the only thing we have to carry the soul. When our physical bodies are not in proper working order, everything around us ultimately suffers. Our good health is all we have that stands between us and the aging process. The more our air, food and water are taxed and altered, our body has to work harder to cleanse itself. The longer we keep our physical body in optimum health, the longer we have our temple to keep our soul on this plane. Detoxification is the best way to keep the body at its most ultimate working level.

Symptoms such as frequent or reoccurring colds, feeling heavy, sluggish or tired, poor skin, acne or other related skin problems, allergies, a thick, coated tongue, bad breath, headache, and feelings of gas and being bloated after meals may indicate problems in the body’s functionality and it’s ability to process, digest and excrete properly. These vague symptoms that are often overlooked tend to be the results of a congested and sluggish body system.

Exposure or toxicity to food additives, solvents, pesticides, herbicides and other toxic chemicals can cause a number of psychological and neurological symptoms. Toxins produced by bacteria in the gut can be absorbed, causing significant disruption of body functions. Toxins that the body are unable to eliminate build up in the tissues, typically in our fat stores.

Man-made electromagnetic fields bombard us constantly on a daily basis. Computers, microwaves, X Ray machines, TV, cell phones and antennas are just a few of the low and high frequency electromagnetic fields the continue to assault us as our population grows and the need to advance technology at the speed of light increases.
Your internal environment is just as important as your outside environment. Would you like to improve your health? Better your life? Be who you are suppose to be? We sometimes stray from these very simple facts that can make our lives the most fulfilled. Consider these ideas:

1. Visit your Alternative healthcare practitioner at least once a month.

Alternative medicine is one of the most comprehensive medical systems in the world today. This medicine looks at the entire individual on a functional systemic basis that integrates all components of our mental, visceral and emotional bodies. See your local practitioner for preventative and maintaining good health as well.

2. Eat Nutritionally Sound Food.

A balanced diet with the appropriate amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fats and water is essential for sustaining a well fueled body which will allow you to do everything in your life to it’s greatest potential.

3. Exercise and Move Your Body.

Movement has been shown to ease depression, increase flexibility, keep muscles toned and help us to gain better balance. Movement also increases endorphins. The “happy” chemical in our brain that allows us to think clearer, function optimally and feel great!

4. Get “good” sleep.

Everybody is different with the amount of sleep they need. The one thing that is most important is not necessarily the quantity of sleep but the quality we get. A sound night’s sleep allows our entire body to regenerate, replenish and rebound back into a day that is full of life and energy.

5. Welcome the Power of Nature.

“Going back to our roots” can also mean becoming in touch again with nature. The power of the sea, sun, trees and plants have an energy they are willing to share with us. All we have to do is pay attention!

6. Learn to Love!

Take the time to pay attention, appreciate and love the one you’re with. Be them friends, family or your partner, learn to love unconditionally and without expectation. Learn to pay more attention to yourself, Learn HOW to love yourself. Learn to re-love, that you have forgotten, forsaken or let go of. What attracted you in the first place?

7. Strengthen your Support.

Your family and your friends are the ones who are there for you when you need them the most. Take the time to listen to them, share stories, show appreciation for what they do for you and what they do for people around them. Tell them. Let them know you. Learn to love them for who they are, not what you want them to be.

8. Stay Spiritual.

Giving thanks to the Universe/Ultimate Power/Godhead is powerful. Religion is a bridge to spirituality. You don’t have to go to a church or synagogue in order to be spiritual. Spirit is everywhere. Spirit is energy and it is in all things. The best part is being aware of it.

9. Keep Growing and Laughing

Keeping the brain stimulated is one of the best ways we can fight off the signs of aging. Stay curious, creative and learn something new about the world. It is essential to keep maintaining a playful spirit and to keep the mind sharp! Find laughter throughout the day. See things on the lighter side of life. I promise, it will bring great joy.

10. Honor Who You Are.

You are the most powerful, successful and happiest. You deserve all that you desire and should honor all that you are. Find the complete and satisfied soul inside yourself. You are without a doubt, an amazing person. Take time to honor that.
