Andesite

Properties: This is the stone for grounding and focusing. It can help in prevention of any physical or mental injury. If you have a low threshold, then this stone can help you to become more understanding, allowing for a grounding stance, a patient outlook and forgiving heart. Therefore, this stone can assist in helping us to detach from old thoughts and beliefs, encouraging the opportunity to look at attaining new beliefs and goals. This opportunity helps us to look inward for support, finding new images of self-awareness, strength and self-love. With better realizations of who we are, we can become united with Universal consciousness.

Andesite has been found to access the communicative forces of our inner-intelligence or intuition. It assists us in locating that which has been misplaced and in discovering and understanding previously unidentified messages from both within and outward of the self.

Folk Remedies: Useful when you are stressed out or fighting a physical or mental disorder, this stone can help you to heal, emotionally. This stone will also help you to get a deeper perspective on the disease in order to know the exact reason and purpose of the distress you are undergoing. This allows you the opportunity to help eliminate it. If you are prone to accidents or injuries, then andesite can make you more aware of precarious situations and negativity that may surround you. It can be used in the treatment of disorders associated with the skin, bone and muscular connections.

Crystal Cleansing: method 1 – 8

History: Andesite is a fine-grained, igneous, volcanic rock composed mainly of plagioclase with other minerals such as hornblende, basalt, pyroxene and biotite. In general, it is of the Feldspar group under Andesine. It is considered the intermediate type of stone between basalt and dacite. Magnetite, zircon, apatite, ilmenite, biotite, and garnet are common accessory minerals. Alkali feldspar may be present. The quartz-feldspar abundances in andesite and other volcanic rocks can be considered as the extrusive equivalent of plutonic diorite. Andesites are characteristic of subduction zones, such as the western margin of South America. The name andesite is derived from the Andes mountain range.

Special Note: these particular stones were used by Andrew in an amazing winter solstice ceremony at the equator (the middle of the world). They were divined at a seasonal ceremonial circle and given as a gift to the world.

“From Within” Meditation

This exercise involves going into the very center of your being. Using any stone that comes deep from within the Earth, (volcanic stones, mountain stones, fault stones), will help you connect on an outer level. Crystals from deep within the earth that journey to the surface, have the same process as our inner thoughts, which manifest outward.

Cleansing & Charging Andesite

~ Cleansing a crystal is always a good idea to rid it of energies (negative or otherwise) that it may have picked up during handling and excessive use.

~ Charging a crystal is bringing its energy levels back up, after use and cleansing. Like re-charging a battery after it has lost its energy.  A great way to do this (and remind you that it is time to do so) is during a full moon.
