Description
This beautiful Serpentine Spiral is a Machu Picchu original. The PachaMama (mother earth) pendant is handmade by the wonderful Quechua artist, Mana Loo in the Peruvian Andes. It is made of natural semiprecious “Machu Picchu Stone” which is a type of serpentine found in the area around Machu Picchu. It is also handmade with 950 Silver which is inlaid among the stone representing the Spiral of Life.
The spiral plays a specific role in symbolism. The spiral represents the never-ending cycles of growth, change and eternal life. A spiral is a curve which emanates from a central point, getting progressively farther away as it revolves around the point. It appears in megalithic art and ancient stonework in Machu Picchu.
The circle is an ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess and female power (moon) the god and male power (sun). The perfect circle has no beginning and no end.
The bail of the pendant is also graced with a little round serpentine stone.
The back of this pendant is very special. It is inlaid with 7 healing Chakra stones representing the 7 major energy centers of the body.
***PLEASE NOTE: the colors of these Chakra stones represent the INCAN CHAKRA SYSTEM or PUKIOS. There is a slight color variation. See the full reason below (as it makes perfect sense.)
This pendant is also accompanied by a beautiful .925 Sterling Silver chain which measures 24″ inches. The circular pendant itself measures 1 1/4″ inches wide. It comes with cleansing instructions, metaphysical information and an organza bag.
***You will find, that the typically known “rainbow color system” varies slightly in The Incan beliefs. The 3rd (solar plexus chakra) and the 7th (crown chakra) vary slightly in color. The Solar Plexus Chakra which is the seat of the “will power” is represented by dark indigo representing wisdom. Therefore, lapis lazuli is used. The Crown Chakra is the seat of “the most highest power” and is represented by gold, green, or copper. Therefore, serpentine (the most famous Incan stone) is used. The remaining stones are Root – jasper, Sacral – carnelian, Heart – amazonite, Throat – aquamarine, Third Eye – dumortierite.
In his book, The Chakra Codex, philosopher, painter, shaman, and spiritualist, Zachary Selig, explains how the Chakra differ from their most notable Mayan, Vedic, and Brahman cultures. The Incan Chakra System or “Pukios” consists of 4 outer (Pop) layers (similar to the Aura), 2 outer Chakra (the Soul and Spirit) and 7 internal Chakra. Chakra are known in South America as the Ojos de luz, or “eyes of light. These Chakra project threads of light that extend beyond the physical body outward into the external world. Chakra extend light-expelling threads that reach beyond the body and connect with the external environment in nature.
