A Brief History

~ Cauldrons symbolize not only the Goddess but also represent the womb (due to the fact that it holds something) and on an altar it represents the element of Earth because it is a working tool.

~ Ceridwen was a Welsh enchantress/goddess in medieval legend, who was keeper of the cauldron. Ceridwen is regarded as the Celtic goddess of rebirth, transformation, and inspiration.

~ The Daghda or Dagda in Celtic lore was the Father of all the Gods. He was the Irish God whose name means “All Competent”. His tools, among them a cauldron (that magically never emptied of its fertility-rich, rejuvenating waters), played a major role in Celtic healing.

~ In Irish folklore, a cauldron is believed to be where leprechauns keep their gold and treasure.
