The Metaphysics of Beauty

Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether visible or invisible. It seeks a description so basic, so essentially simple, so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything must be like in order to be at all.

Understand that we are all beautiful! Beauty encompasses a whole range of characteristics. There are many things, which make us beautiful. Of course symmetry is the most obvious. Taking good care of yourself physically,  mentally/emotionally and spiritually all have a way of making us more attractive.

Utilize these powerful beauty tools such as life affirming affirmations, and boosting self-esteem to bring the power of positive thought and mind altering beauty to life. Work with nature’s tools such as essential oils,   creating a beautiful environment, the metaphysical properties of crystals and gemstones, along with herbs for beauty.  Consider our featured products.

Symmetry and Beauty

Symmetry means being the same, or being balanced, proportional or even, on each side. The more symmetrically balanced a face is, the more appealing it becomes. When we look at the physical body as well, the more proportionate it is, the more subconsciously we perceive that person as someone in good health. Throughout history, this balance has been seen as a marker of good genes, strength, fertility and beauty.

There have been countless studies done on human symmetry and many have determined a common mathematical formula. This is best illustrated in the drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci of the Vitruvian Man. The Da Vinci drawing was made as a study of the proportions of the ideal male body as described by the Roman architect, Vitruvius. This drawing and the text are sometimes referred to as the Canon of Proportions.

Beauty has also been described mathematically by the concept of the Golden Ratio. This mathematical formula for beauty was advanced by Fibonacci in 1495 who described the golden proportions as 1.618:1.  This golden ratio can be used to illustrate the ideal proportions of the human body. It is also found throughout nature and the Universe as it relates to the symmetry of all things.

“Always think of what is useful and not what is beautiful. Beauty will come of its own accord.”

~ Nikolai Gogol

There are also several classification systems of body types.  A well-known system separates people into a continuum of somatotypes:  endomorphic, mesomorphic, and ectomorphic. These are basic classifications of body types.  Ectomorphs tend to be thin by nature; Mesomorphs tend to be muscular and Endomorphs tend to be more full figured.

Even though you may not have been born with great symmetry, do not despair.  There are many ways to create it. There are ways to create symmetry with makeup.  Makeup shouldn’t be used as a tool to replace your own natural beauty. Makeup should be used to enhance your face’s best features and to hide the features you dislike.

Symmetry can be altered with physical exercise and weight lifting. This can change the look and proportions of your body to better improve your symmetry.  The perfectly symmetrical body is often described as the X shape.  The top of the X represents broad shoulders, the V in the top half of the X represents a wide upper back, narrowing into a small waist with small hips; and the bottom half of the X represents long legs with a flowing full outer quads, full calves and upper thigh muscles that seem to connect directly into the waist. Although, we can’t change our height, we can change our proportions.

“There is nothing that radiates beauty more than a self-confident and proud individual”

~ Andrew Pacholyk

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

~ Confucius

“Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul.”

~ Saint Augustine

Life Affirmations

Affirmations are a positive word, expression or term to guide us and give us reassurance. “I am beautiful”, “nothing will take away from my beautiful feelings, today”, “I am full of beauty, inside and out”. These are all great affirmations to live by.

Affirmations are about “energy following thought”. Program your thoughts to be affirming, self respecting, full of love and honor and your energy will follow this path. Positive affirmations are one of the greatest “beauty tools” we can give ourselves, because first and foremost, it comes down to having good self-esteem.
