Goldstone

Properties:  Goldstone is a man-made stone. It is a type of glass with glittery metallic material in it. Its sparkle is due to flecks of copper. Called the “stone of ambition and drive”, and as such is said to help attain one’s goals. It is a valid classification, as it has many properties of NATURAL glass, such as obsidian which are modified by its being man-made and having been doped with additives.

Originally created when alchemists were working towards creating gold. This stone is gently uplifting and helpful to the Solar Plexus Chakra. Goldstone is also said to help one stay calm and stabilize the emotions. It can be used as an energy generator and can deflect unwanted energies, making it used as a protection stone. It is also used for long distance healing and revitalizing one’s energy field. Goldstone allows an increased flow of energy to channel through the sender. This makes it a great reiki stone, for it allows this energy to flow by emanating it from the senders hands.

Folk Remedies: Helps to reduce stomach tension, protects the center of the body. Goldstone also has many of the metaphysical properties of copper, including strengthening the circulatory system, strengthening bones and eases arthritis pain.

Feng Shui: Goldstone (brown, gold, yellow) can be placed in the Center area of your home or work environment as it will help calm over excitability and promote a sense of well being. Also use (black or blue) goldstone in the North (Career) area or (green or purple) goldstone in the Wealth/Prosperity area.

Crystal Cleansing: method 1 – 8

History: Goldstone is actually a man-made glass with flecks of copper suspended in it, which give it the sparkles. Goldstone was originally created by French monks, and in time the secret was lost. Another story had goldstone being (re)discovered or recreated in the 17th century when Venetian glass maker Vincenzo Miotti was credited with the invention of goldstone. The island of Murano, part of Venice, has been a center of glass making in Italy for centuries. As a major trade good, glass artists were discouraged from leaving and their techniques were safely guarded.

Goldstone was especially prized by the Chinese, who called it jinxing boli, “gold star glass”. It remained a trade secret until the process was disclosed during the early 19th century. Goldstone is a popular material because of its beauty as well as its metaphysical properties lore. Goldstone was known historically as aventurine glass, from its Italian name avventurina, “accidental”, from the root avventura meaning “by luck, chance, or risk”. The name may refer to the random nature of its spangles or the difficulty in producing it.

Green

Not particularly known as a “luck stone”, green goldstone is fascinating. It is a stone I cannot seem to take my eyes off. Green is a color of nature and nourishment and this stone has an attraction for richness, wealth and (for me), empowerment!  It is said to help attain one’s goals. It is for this indirect connection that I love carrying it around as my personal good luck stone! Connects to the Heart Chakra

Blue

Blue goldstone twinkles like a midnight sky full of stars!  Angelic and powerful, psychic and mysterious, this deep blue stone has the intrigue of the dark sea and can be associated with both the Throat Chakra and Third Eye Chakra. When holding this stone, I sense it’s stronger association to the spiritual realm. It helps us find information that “rings” true.

Red

Red Goldstone has a very distinct energetic pattern. It is associated with the grounding protection of the Root Chakra and offers up a sense of security, familiarity and works great against fear. This stone energizes and forces motivation within us. The twinkling of the copper shimmers to remind us that we contain all the potential and energy required to go after what we want in life!

Cleansing & Charging Goldstone

~ Cleansing a crystal is always a good idea to rid it of energies (negative or otherwise) that it may have picked up during handling and excessive use.

~ Charging a crystal is bringing its energy levels back up, after use and cleansing. Like re-charging a battery after it has lost its energy.  A great way to do this (and remind you that it is time to do so) is during a full moon.

Crystal Cleansing: method 1 – 8

The Power of Color

Color plays a major role in determining how your crystal can help you.  A crystal’s color is due to its combination of minerals, which give it it’s own personality.  It contributes in what attracts you to it.  The psychological aspects of color determine how a crystal’s healing properties work.
