Aromatherapy can help by reducing stress and promoting relaxation making it easier to sleep. Helpful, are essential oils such as Chamomile, Clary Sage, Lavender and Neroli. Baths, massage oils as well as, skin and body treatments and diffuser blends all allow you to calm and release tension in the body, as well as, your emotional/spiritual well-being. These oils can help with gentle dreams and peaceful sleep.

Chamomile: known as a physical and emotional soother, this essential oil is even suitable for children. Chamomile calms the nervous system and induces sleep.

Clary Sage: is anti-depressant and regulates the nervous system and is very beneficial with stress-related problems.

Lavender: is a soothing, relaxing essential oil that soothes muscle soreness and calms the central nervous system.

Neroli: is an anti-depressant and gentle nerve tonic. Orange blossom is most helpful for treating depression, anxiety, nervous tension and stress related problems.

DIY (Do it yourself) Remedies

Gentle Dreams

Blend together in a mister/spray bottle:

11 drops of lavender essential oil
9 drops of chamomile essential oil

4 ounces of warm water

Gently turn the bottle upside down several times to blend.

Mist the air above your pillow and bed sheets. (Oils may stain if applied directly to linens)

Mist your face, throat and pulse points. Let dry before lying down.

 

Peaceful Sleep Dab

In a .05 ounce roll on bottle, blend:

7 drops of Clary Sage essential oil
5 drops of Neroli essential oil

Add to the bottle, a carrier oil, such as almond, jojoba, canola, sunflower or safflower oil.

Gently turn the bottle upside down several times to blend.

Roll on this blend to pulse points on both sides of the neck, wrists and tops of feet. Allow the oil to dry before lying down for a peaceful sleep.

 

Dreamy Bath Blend

Run a hot bath. As the tub is just about filled, add:

17 drops of Lavender essential oil
15 drops of Clary Sage essential oil
13 drops of Chamomile essential oil

Stir into bath water.  Emerge your body up to your neck in the warm, fragrant waters.

Allow yourself time, as you relax for 15 -20 minutes.

Drain and clean your tub, while you allow your body to air dry.  Then slip off to bed!
